THE "MODERN" WOMAN OF THE 1990s

Despite the fact that the societal norms of a woman’s role in the household changed, laundry detergent ads in the 1990s, almost 50 years after the previous ads, still only portrayed women doing the laundry.

Although no longer quite as white-washed and stereotypical, they continued to uphold the traditional ideals of the 1950s. However much they may have attempted to disguise their old-fashioned thinking with a more modern approach, they never strayed from the sexist thinking of their roots.
